Automating Backups
Backups, especially on a server you use for making money, are very important. There are a variety of ways to do automated backups. Sometimes, your hosting provider has good tools. Sometimes, you have to get innovative.
We’ve done backups to other servers, we’ve done them to second drives (cloning), we’ve done them to off site computers, even personal ones. We have also done separate “backups” for MySQL® data via replication and SSL, which is real time. We have done them on dedicated servers, and, shared hosting environments as well. You have to consider how the hosting provider would load the backup if it was ever needed.
Whatever you do, make sure you do not omit doing backups! You should not have a live site making you money, and, have it crash without a backup. Contact us if you need any help with this automation.
